The Milton Wilson award is presented to a past Business School Dean in recognition of leadership, service and commitment to the academic profession. This award is given in honor of Dr. Milton Wilson.
Dr. Wilson was among the nation’s first 100 African American CPAs, the first in the state of Texas, and was one of the first seven African Americans to earn a doctoral degree in accounting. Dr. Wilsons’ vision and commitment to excellence in higher education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) resulted in his leading two HBCUs to earn accreditation for the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the only dean to accomplish this feat. Dr. Wilson was also instrumental in the creation of the African American Accounting Doctoral Students Association (AAASA) which led to the PHD Project Doctoral Students Association.
At the time of his passing in 2003, Dr. Wilson was Dean Emeritus at Howard University.

Dr. Patrick R. Liverpool
Dr. Patrick R. Liverpool's Bio
Dr. Patrick R. Liverpool is a seasoned higher education executive, business educator, and international consultant with more than 40 years of leadership experience in academic administration, institutional development, and business education.
A former Professor of Management at University of Toledo and Howard University, he has served as dean, provost, vice provost, and executive Vice President of academic affairs at several institutions including Virginia Tech, Virginia State, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina Central University, Florida A&M University, Fisk University, North Carolina A&T State University, and Central State University.
From 2000 to 2005, he served as Dean and MBNA America Professor of Management at Delaware State University, where he led curriculum reform, expanded academic programs, strengthened student support services, and secured a $2.5 million grant from MBNA (now Bank of America).
Dr. Liverpool also made history as the first Black Vice Provost at Virginia Tech, where he led outreach and international initiatives. Internationally, he has provided consulting support to institutions including the University of Guyana, with advisory work connected to the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and the University of Botswana. He currently serves on the board of Seeka University, in Ivory Coast. Dr. Liverpool holds BA & MBA degrees from Inter American University of Puerto Rico and a Doctorate of Business Administration from Kent State University. In addition to being a Fulbright Scholar in Germany, he also studied at the International Institute of Labour and Cooperatives in Tel Aviv, Israel.
